Earlywood and Graham roundabout work to begin Wednesday

An intersection is expected to close on Wednesday for the construction of a new roundabout.

The intersection of Graham Road and Earlywood Drive is expected to remain closed for approximately 70 days, city officials shared in a Facebook traffic alert.

To get around the closure, traffic should follow the official signed detour route of U.S. 31, Paul Hand Road and Hurricane Road. People should be able to access properties within the boundaries of the detour and the project at all times, officials said.

The roundabout is expected to cost $2 million, which the city is partially funding with a Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative grant for $213,000. The new roundabout is the latest in a series of roundabouts allowing semi-trucks and industrial park traffic safe passage around downtown Franklin.
