A dozen women will vie for the title of Johnson County Fair Queen this Sunday.
The pageant takes place at 7 p.m. Sunday in the McCarty Mulch Indoor Arena at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. The women will compete in several different competitions before a panel of judges to determine who will rule over this year’s fair.
The queen and her court attend the fair each day and hand out ribbons to winners at 4-H shows among other duties.
This year’s candidates are:
- Elise Armstrong, 18, of Bargersville, is a graduate of Center Grove High School. She is a freshman at Indiana University, studying molecular life sciences. Her parents are Brandon and Jennifer Armstrong.
- Elizabeth Elliott, 19, of Indianapolis, is a homeschool graduate. She is a freshman at DePauw University, studying classic studies, psychology and pre-law. Her parents are Peggy and Bryan Elliott.
- Hanna Garrison, 17, of Greenwood is a senior at Center Grove High School. She is the daughter of Leah Garrison.
- Chloe Grubb, 18, of Bargersville, is a graduate of Center Grove High School. She is a freshman at Butler University, studying psychology and political science. Her parents are Stephanie and Rich Merriman.
- Emma Gunn, 17, of Greenwood, is a graduate of Whiteland Community High School. She is a freshman at Indiana University – Bloomington, studying biochemistry, math and Spanish. Her parents are Katie and Adam DeClercq.
- Bethanie Haveman, 18, of Franklin, is a graduate of Franklin Community High School. She is a freshman at Pensacola Christian College, studying nursing. Her parents are Mark and Kimberly Haveman.
- Emily Martin, 18, of Bargersville, is a graduate of Franklin Community High School. She is a freshman at Ball State University, studying criminology. Her parents are Dustin and Amanda Martin.
- Madylin Norris, 17, of Franklin, is a senior at Franklin Community High School. She hopes to attend college and study agriculture business, animal science or ag education. Her parents are Michael and Adrian Norris.
- Emilee Pickerel, 18, of Trafalgar, is a graduate of Indian Creek High School. She is a freshman at Purdue University, studying animal science. Her parents are Brandon and Alisha Pickerel.
- Alyza Sutton-Kendall, 18, of Bargersville, is a graduate of Franklin Community High School. She is a freshman at University of Indianapolis, studying physical therapy and physical training. She is the daughter of Aliesch Vandenberg.
- Layna Tzaferis, 17, of Bargersville, is a senior at Center Grove High School. She hopes to attend college and study nursing. Her parents are Teresa and John Tzaferis.
- Abigaile Wolfe, 17, of Trafalgar, is a graduate of Indiana Ag & Tech. She is a freshman at Eastern Wyoming College, studying agricultural communications. Her parents are Amber and David Wolfe.
