Greenwood’s Laster set for ARCA race in Indy

Turns out you can go home again.

Brayton Laster, who has had the opportunity to race on such famed ovals as Daytona and Talladega, gets to race in front of his family and friends next Friday when he takes part in the ARCA Menards Series Circle City 200 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

“As a native Hoosier, being able to compete on such a big stage in front of my home town crowd is absolutely exhilarating,” Laster said.

The 21-year-old Greenwood native, who finished 20th at the same event last summer, will be driving the No. 6 Toyota Camry for Wayne Peterson Motorsports; it is Laster’s first race with that organization.

Laster has completed 11 races on the ARCA Menards Series over the past three years, including seven last season. He placed in the top 10 in each of his last three 2023 starts, each while driving for Rise Motorsports. So far this season, his best finish is a 22nd-place performance in the Tide 150 at Kansas Speedway two months ago.

“It has definitely been a rough year for us,” Laster said. “We missed the show at Daytona, and then I do not have a whole lot of intermediate experience, so my races at Pheonix and Kansas were all about seat time and not focusing primarily on being competitive, so going back to a short track where I can try to shine is definitely much needed.”
