Jackie “Jack” D. Gray

EDINBURGH

Jackie “Jack” D. Gray, 76, of Edinburgh, passed away July 12, 2024, at his home and surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 22, 1948, in Columbus, to the late Arthur and Pauline Metzger Gray. He married Marsha Kay Abbett Gray on July 22, 1967, in Columbus, and she survives.

In addition to his work as a meat-cutter, working at Jay-C in Edinburgh, Jack was a truly selfless man. He served alongside the members of the Edinburgh Ministerial Association (now the Edinburgh Fellowship of Churches). He directed the Edinburgh Ministerial Association Food Pantry and later was the overseer of the Edinburgh Cheer Fund upon the retirement of Allen Smith.

Jack is also survived by his daughter Karen (Randall, Sr.) White, of Edinburgh; brother Harry “Eddie” Gray, of North Vernon; sister, Patricia (Al) Reeder, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Randall, Jr. (Laura) White, of Nineveh, and Jackie (Christian “Chris”) Baker, of Edinburgh; great grandchildren, Jazmine, Jason, Mason, Emma, James, and Lucy; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was also preceded in death by his son, Kevin Allen Gray; brothers, Robert Gray, Don Gray, Jim Gray, and William Gray; and his sister Betty Hendry.

Pastor Jason Hyer will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Edinburgh Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, at the church, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts have been suggested to the Edinburgh Cheer Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh.
