Patricia Joan (Slyker) Zehr

FRANKLIN, IN.

Patricia Joan (Slyker) Zehr, 91, of Franklin, Indiana was born on April 15, 1933, to Nellie Claypole Slyker and William V Slyker. She passed away on July 14, 2024, at the Masonic Home in Franklin, IN.

She married Edgar Zehr of Jasper, IN on February 6, 1957, and he survives.

Other survivors include their children Jim (Tessie) of Leavenworth, IN, John (Becky) of Franklin, IN, and Nancy Hadley (Dane) of Greenwood, IN. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Eric Zehr, Samantha Pearson, Ross Syphers, Camryn Zehr, and Alexis Zehr, three great children: Zehr Pearson, Khloe Pearson, and Gavin Baker as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John, and brother William Jr.

Pat graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, IN She received her BS Degree from Purdue University and trained to become a Registered Dietitian. She practiced at St. Mary’s and Welborn Hospitals in Evansville, IN and St. Vincent’s in Indianapolis, IN. While at Purdue, she was a member and officer of the Chi Omega Sorority.

After the family moved to Franklin, she served as a board member of the Franklin Girls Club and the Franklin School Board. She was a past president of the Hillview Ladies Golf Association and the Charlotte Emerson Club.

Besides her family interests, Pat enjoyed painting, needlework, reading, sporting events, and the Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra.

A time of gathering and sharing to celebrate Pat’s life will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 2PM until 5PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
