In Loving Memory of Carol Sue Johnson

Carol Sue Pauch Johnson, 87 of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Born on January 1, 1937, in Bedford, Indiana, to James Charles Pauch Sr. and Frances Bridwell Pauch, she was a beacon of love and joy from the moment she entered the world as the first New Year’s baby of her year. A proud graduate of Edinburg Schools in 1955, she faithfully attended the Edinburgh Alumni Banquet for 69 years, missing only one year in that time. She embraced life with a vibrant spirit and a deep devotion to her family and friends.

Family was the heart of Carol’s life. She was a loving wife to Eddy Johnson, whom she married on September 14, 1956, and who preceded her in death. Their enduring bond was the foundation of a beautiful family, including their three children: Tony (Lynn) Johnson, Jill (Doug) Liffick, and Jason (Laura) Johnson. Her legacy continues through her four beloved grandchildren: Matt (Blythe) Johnson, Katie (Matt) Brandon, Jacob Johnson, and Ben Johnson?and her cherished great-grandson, Beckett Johnson.

An avid enthusiast of games, Carol found great joy in going to the casino, playing cards, Yahtzee, and various board games. Her participation in her Euchre card club and Beta Sigma Phi sorority reflected her love for social connection and spirited fun. She also loved having lunch with her friends, a time she treasured for its laughter and camaraderie.

Though she was a night owl who preferred the serenity of the evening, Carol delighted in watching TV game shows and Hallmark movies. She had a playful struggle with cell phones and TV remotes, often needing extra help despite her best efforts. Her humorous approach to these challenges brought smiles to those around her.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, James Charles Pauch Jr., and her sister, Linda Pauch Koby.

A funeral service will be conducted by Paul St. Pierre at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 4:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Carol’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends.

Rest in peace, Carol. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of those you touched and loved.
