Johnson County Recycling District to offer document shedding, chemical disposal events

Johnson County Recycling District and Shares, Inc. will host document shredding and household chemical disposal events 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 17 at 900 Arvin Road, Franklin.

The shredding events are free and open to Johnson County residents and businesses. Documents will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville. Electronics and general recycling will not be accepted. These items can be brought to the Franklin Recycling Center during regular hours of operation. Visit JCRD.org for specific days and times.

The Johnson County Tox Box will also be open for residential use from 9 a.m. to noon by appointment. Visit JCRD.org to set up an appointment time. The Tox Box is located at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin.

The following items are free of charge to take to the Tox Box: household cleaning supplies, yard and pool chemicals, automotive fluids, poisons, aerosol cans, adhesives, oil-based paint and stains. No latex paint, batteries, or light bulbs will be accepted.

Tox Box is open to Johnson County residents only. No businesses, contractors or small quantity generators will be accepted.
