GREENWOOD
Charles L. “Charlie” Johnson, 87, of Greenwood Indiana, passed away on August 7, 2024.
Charles was born on November 3, 1936, to Napoleon and Clara (Lisenbee) Johnson in Harlan, Kentucky. Charles was a navy veteran and served faithfully in the Greenwood/Whiteland Honor Guard. He was also involved in the American Legion post # 0252. He was part of the IDLA (Indiana Dancers Leaders Association), and the Merry Mixers Club. Charles also enjoyed being a square dance caller. He invested time as a volunteer coach and referee with Greenwood Bantam Football League and umpired softball and baseball. Charlie loved the Lord and attended Greenwood Christian Church when he was able.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Ruth, son Charles (Beverly) “Charlie” Johnson, daughter Michelle (Carl) Hancock, and stepdaughters Marcia (Maurice) Lisby, Kathy (Bill) Nicholas, Carrie (Mike) Hayes, Barb Hughes; 9 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Napoleon and Clara Johnson; his two sons Michael Landon Johnson and David Chester Johnson; and granddaughter Michelle Marie Johnson.
Visitation will take place from 1:00pm-3:00pm on Monday August 12, 2024, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, 481 West Main Street in Greenwood. Services will begin following the visitation at 3:00pm.
