New game store hosts grand opening

A&A Games, 1884 Northwood Plaza, is having a grand opening today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store carries video games from new to retro, tabletop board games, role-playing games, Pokemon, toys, Funko Pops and more.

People who attend the event can register to win a Nintendo Switch Oled, a Pokemon bundle, and a paint and minis bundle. Register to win in-store during the event.

Free t-shirts will also be available while supplies last for loyalty members. The program is free to join.

The store is also offering special discounts on video games, toys and Funko Pops during the event.

New senior wellness center to host open house

The Franciscan Senior Health and Wellness Center, part of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, recently moved to a new location in Greenwood. An open house will be hosted at the new location on Aug. 15. Tours of the facility will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and refreshments will be available. The new location for the center is at 1040 Sierra Drive, Ste. 600.

The new 13,500 square foot location in Greenwood was designed to meet the growing needs of the Indianapolis region, offer a more centralized location within the designated service area and present a layout that is more conducive to the all-inclusive services the program offers to its participants.

Franciscan Senior Health and Wellness is a community-based healthcare program created for people 55 or older who are eligible for nursing-home level care but prefer to receive their care in their own familiar surroundings.

Franciscan Health recognized for cardiovascular care

Franciscan Health Indianapolis and Mooresville have received three American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines achievement awards for demonstrating a commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.

The awards are recognition for each hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke and heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability. The goal is speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for stroke and heart failure patients.

Franciscan Health Indianapolis and Mooresville were also recognized as part of the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with thrombolytic therapy.

BAM Weather announces new director
