UPDATE: Three injured in crash near Indian Creek High School

A four-vehicle crash near Indian Creek High School left three people injured this morning.

The crash happened after witnesses say a vehicle traveling northbound on State Road 135 stopped suddenly near the intersection of Indiana Meadows. The driver of a Jeep swerved to avoid hitting the vehicles stopped in front of her and struck another vehicle traveling southbound in the opposite lane, according to a crash report provided by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of a third vehicle, a truck, was driving northbound when the driver in front of him slammed on their brakes, according to police. The truck driver was able to stop, but was struck in the rear by the Jeep and a third vehicle, the report says.

The fourth vehicle, a Buick SUV, swerved to the right to avoid hitting the truck and ran over a highway sign, the report says.

No major injuries or fatalities were reported. However, two teens were transported to the hospital for non-incapacitating injuries, the sheriff’s office reported.

Another driver was also transported to the hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.

Indian Creek school administration released a statement asking people in the school community to “refrain from sharing speculation and wait for the families involved to share when and if they decide to do so.”
