Rev. Randall P. “Randy” Gentry

INDIANAPOLIS

Rev. Randall P. “Randy” Gentry, 54, of Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, August 17, 2024, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.

He was born on January 25, 1970, in Franklin, Indiana, a son of Philip and Joann (Stancombe) Gentry.

Randy was a 1989 graduate of Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar. He married the love of his life, Dara Palmer, on April 8, 1995. He was a graduate of the Church of the Nazarene Ministerial Course of Study. Randy pastored in the Church of the Nazarene in Aledo and North Pekin, Illinois, and then pastored in Indiana at the College Corner and Cornerstone Nazarene Churches. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball, being outdoors, and working on tractors. Randy loved people and especially learning from older people. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish Randy’s memory include his wife of 29 years, Dara Gentry; three children, Abigail “Abby” Gentry, Philip R. Gentry, and Carolyn “Carrie” Gentry; a sister, Rhonda G. (James) Hester of Trafalgar; three uncles, Kenneth (Violet) Stancombe of Shelbyville, Keith Stancombe of Franklin, and Ronnie Stancombe of Franklin; his in-laws, Dennis and Trena Palmer of Manilla; many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, including Brittani Reid and Brooklynn Hester. Randy was especially loved by his wife’s granny, Carolyn Palmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kevin P. Gentry.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Southport Church of the Nazarene, 920 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, with Pastor Tim Lanigan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
