ARTS
SOUTHSIDE ART LEAGUE is hosting a solo show by Greenwood artist Beverly S. Mathis from September 4-28. She will be exhibiting her newest watercolor and mixed water media paintings. Mathis has been teaching adult watercolor classes at the Southside Art League since 1996. The artist’s work can be viewed all year round at the SALI Gallery and the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville. Come and meet the artist during the SALI Open House on Sept. 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
SOUTHSIDE ART LEAGUE is hosting a one-artist show by local resident Gail Trent Risner now through Aug. 31. Risner will be exhibiting a collection of her acrylic and oil paintings. Risner’s various styles reflect her interest in art movements from Impressionism to Surrealism and Realism to Abstraction. Visit the gallery at 299 E. SALI Summer Exhibit, artists will be exhibiting art works that follow the theme, “The Sky’s the Limit”. A wide variety of styles, subjects, media and prices will be available, including framed and unframed original paintings, matted giclee prints, ceramic sculpture, paper sculpture and greeting cards. The exhibit will be displayed for three months, now through Sept. 28.

AIRPORT DAY, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Indy South Greenwood Airport, 897 Airport Parkway. Join airport staff for a fun-filled day of activities, exhibits and food. Attendees will see World War II aircraft, vehicles and live reenactors. The local Young Eagles chapter will offer free plane rides for kids ages 8-17.
