BAND BOOSTERS OPEN CLASS CAR AND TRUCK SHOW!

Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Franklin Community Middle School, 625 Grizzly Cub Drive.

The Franklin Community Band Boosters, in cooperation with the Franklin Cruisers, present the car and truck show to benefit Franklin’s band programs. Free admission. The event will feature food vendors, awards for the top 10 vehicles and People’s Choice and Ramshack Band will perform.

Vehicles can register to take part for $20, with judging ending at 1 p.m. and awards at 2 p.m. Must be present to win.

ARTS

SOUTHSIDE ART LEAGUE is hosting a solo show by Greenwood artist Beverly S. Mathis from September 4-28. She will be exhibiting her newest watercolor and mixed water media paintings. Mathis has been teaching adult watercolor classes at the Southside Art League since 1996. The artist’s work can be viewed all year round at the SALI Gallery and the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville. Come and meet the artist during the SALI Open House on Sept. 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Visit the gallery at 299 E. SOUTHSIDE ART LEAGUE Summer Exhibit, artists will be exhibiting art works that follow the theme, “The Sky’s the Limit”. A wide variety of styles, subjects, media and prices will be available, including framed and unframed original paintings, matted giclee prints, ceramic sculpture, paper sculpture and greeting cards. The exhibit will be displayed for three months, now through Sept. 28.
