IHSAA sets sectional assignments

The IHSAA released the sectional groupings for baseball and softball on Wednesday, with a few notable differences from the previously announced assignments for volleyball and basketball.

In Class 4A, Franklin and Whiteland will remain with East Central and the two Columbus schools in both sports, while Center Grove will be grouped with Decatur Central, Franklin Central, Mooresville, Perry Meridian and Southport. Indian Creek and Greenwood will be together in a 3A sectional with Beech Grove, New Palestine, Roncalli, Rushville and Shelbyville, while Edinburgh and Greenwood Christian will feed into separate Class A sectionals.

Track and field

State finals to move to Indianapolis

The boys, girls and Unified track and field state finals will take place at North Central High School this coming spring, moving away from its traditional home at Indiana University in Bloomington. The boys meet will take place on June 6, with the Unified and girls meets the following day.

North Central last hosted the state meet in 1997. IU had hosted each of the past 21 years with the exception of 2020 (canceled due to the COVID pandemic) and 2021 (at Ben Davis).

Girls lacrosse

IHSAA grants emerging sport status

The IHSAA named girls lacrosse as an emerging sport for the 2025-26 school year, setting off a process that could eventually lead to full recognition and sponsorship of a state tournament. The Indiana Girls Lacrosse Association has sponsored a state tourney since 2000, and 39 schools across the state fielded teams in 2023. To become officially recognized, at least 100 of the state’s 409 member schools must be participating.
