Girls golf

Grizzly Cubs defend Mid-State title

Behind a personal-best 69 from medalist Addi Bright, No. 6 Franklin put up a team total of 314 to defeat 19th-ranked Plainfield by 16 strokes in the Mid-State Conference tournament at Heartland Crossing on Wednesday. Lexi Ray added a 73 for the Grizzly Cubs, Reese Phillips shot 77 and Cass Rucker rounded out the scoring with a 95.

Braves earn pair of victories

Indian Creek’s total of 216 was enough to beat Speedway and Triton Central in a three-way match. Emily Hogue led the Braves with a 49, followed by Shelby Roach (53), Allison Vavul (55) and Haylie Knight (59).

Lancers compete in three-way

Edinburgh played against Brown County and Hauser but didn’t have enough players to post a team score. Macie Blandford paced the Lancers with a round of 53.

Girls soccer

Warriors hammer Hawks

Whiteland routed Decatur Central on Wednesday, 9-0. Mackenzie Fleury, Kinley Waalkens and Alexa LaPorte each scored twice for the Warriors (6-1, 2-1 Mid-State), while Madison Fleury, Bethany Floyd and Ava Fagan added one goal apiece.

Woodmen swept by Cougars

Greenwood took a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Bloomington North on Wednesday. The loss dropped the Woodmen to 3-3 on the season.

Women’s soccer ties Asbury

Host Franklin College battled Asbury to a scoreless draw on Wednesday evening. Makenna Mundy made six saves for the Grizzlies (0-1-2), posting her ninth career shutout.
