Boys tennis

Trojans get past Cathedral

Fourth-ranked Center Grove used a sweep of the doubles matches to pull out a 3-2 victory over No. 23 Cathedral on Thursday. The Trojans got a win from Carson Bush and Daksh Patel in the No. 1 position, while the second tandem of Russell Dean and Dimitrios Kandris also came out on top. Yuvraj Dasari picked up Center Grove’s other point at third singles.

Woodmen sweep Hawks

Greenwood blanked Decatur Central, 5-0, in Mid-State Conference play. Carter Chatham, Nick Pruett and Keegan Lane were singles winners for the Woodmen (4-3, 3-1), with Chatham going a third set for his victory. Seth McCauley and Isaac Apgar earned a point at No. 1 doubles, with Thomas Satterfield and Aiden Walton doing the same at No. 2.

Edinburgh edged by Spartans

Edinburgh lost against Southwestern, 3-2. The Lancers’ points came from Braden Cox at third singles and the duo of Brinnyn Moss and Raiden Stanley at No. 2 doubles.

Center Grove stays perfect

Owen Dorrell netted a pair of goals and added an assist to help power Class 3A No. 2 Center Grove to a 6-0 rout of Southport on Thursday. Charlie Habig, Matheus Gubert, Owen Kalmas and Bruno Gubert each added one goal for the Trojans (8-0), who got two assists each from Austin Lowden and Niekos Whitney.

Warriors break even

Cameron Reid’s goal helped Whiteland emerge with a 1-1 tie against Avon. The Warriors move to 0-5-2 on the season.

Girls volleyball

Lancers fall short in five

Led by a 25-kill, 56-dig effort from Kenna Streeval, Edinburgh rallied back from two sets down but came out on the losing end of a 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 25-27, 15-11 marathon against Southwestern on Thursday. Kinzie Purvis had 44 assists and six blocks for the Lancers.

Cougars win three-way

Greenwood Christian finished with a team total of 205 to defeat Monrovia and Edinburgh on Thursday. The Lancers’ Macie Blandford was the individual medalist with a 45.

Franklin College

Men’s soccer suffers setback

Franklin College lost to DePauw on Thursday, 5-1. Britton Heinrich scored the lone goal for the Grizzlies (0-3) off an Ian Rowe assist early in the first half.
