FRANKLIN
Michael “Mike” Hommel, 73, passed away on September 5, 2024. He was a lifetime resident of Franklin.
Mike was born on August 3, 1951 in Franklin, Indiana to Ralph and Florence (Lambert) Hommel.
He is survived by his daughters, April Jones (Michael) and Rachel Hommel (Alyssa); grandson, Bryce; and siblings, Sandy, Steve, Joe, Janet, and Tim. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Ralph and Florence; and siblings, Frank, Donald, Shirley, Betty, and Joan.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Franklin Community High School. He retired from Grimmer-Schmidt where he worked as an engineer for 47 years.
He was a member of the Mobius Strip band that played in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Mike enjoyed music and watching sports.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
