Police: Thieves drove into Greenwood store, stole around 20 guns

Police are investigating an early morning robbery at a Greenwood gun store.

Greenwood Police and Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Greenwood Trading Post, 2801 Fairview Place Suite A, for a reported break-in around 2:50 a.m. Monday. This is near the intersection of Fairview Road and State Road 135.

The suspects allegedly drove a stolen vehicle into the front door of the store to gain entry. They stole around 20 pistols in a display case before leaving the scene, said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief of Greenwood Police.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Serial numbers and other identifying information from the firearms will be entered into a national database. If the information is run by law enforcement in another community, it will come back to them as stolen from Greenwood, Fillenwarth said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, is assisting Greenwood Police. If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to call Greenwood Police at 317-882-9191.
