The Indiana Department of Transportation is hosting hiring fairs for winter season positions next week.
Both the East Central District, which includes Marion County, and the Southeast District, including Johnson County, are hosting hiring fairs on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The East Central event will take place at the Indianapolis Sub District Office, 7105 S. Brookville Road, while the closest Southeast District fair will take place at the Columbus Sub District Office, 3545 W. Two Mile House Road.
Winter seasonal positions run between Nov. 1 and April 1 at a starting pay of $21 per hour for full-time operations and $25 per hour for on-call-only positions. Job duties include performing general highway maintenance, traffic maintenance, snow and ice removal and other duties related to winter operations. A valid commercial driver’s license, or CDL, is required to be considered for a seasonal role, according to INDOT.
There will be a $250 sign-on bonus to start on any of the following dates:
- Tuesday, Nov. 12
- Monday, Nov. 25
- Monday, Dec. 9
There will be a $500 retention bonus offered to Winter Seasonal Maintenance Workers who work full-time hired on or before Dec. 9, and stay through March 21, INDOT officials say.
Registration is not required to attend the event. Interviews will be conducted on-site and INDOT team members will be available to answer questions and provide more information about open positions and careers with the agency, officials say.
