Braves nip Warriors

Indian Creek pulled out a 221-224 victory over Whiteland on Thursday at Tameka Woods. Emily Hogue shot 49 to lead the way for the Braves, who also got a 54 from Shelby Roach and a 58 from Haylie Knight.

Lancers compete against Spartans

Edinburgh did not post a team score in its match against Southwestern, but Macie Blandford was the individual medalist with a round of 46.

Girls volleyball

Trojans survive five-setter

Class 4A No. 7 Center Grove came back from a set down to earn a 26-24, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-6 home win over 3A No. 9 Brebeuf Jesuit on Thursday. The Trojans improved to 15-5 on the season with the victory.

Edinburgh beaten in four

Kenna Streeval had 15 kills and 55 digs, but Edinburgh still came away with a 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 loss against Brown County. Kinzie Purvis had 26 assists and Elizabeth Hernandez 48 digs for the Lancers.

Boys tennis

Whiteland blanks Perry

No. 23 Whiteland stayed unbeaten in the Mid-State Conference with a 5-0 sweep of Perry Meridian on Thursday. Spencer Gillespie, A.J. Stephenson and Jeremiah Hurt were all straight-set winners for the Warriors (13-4, 5-0), who also got comfortable doubles victories from Isaac Phegley and Gavin Stubbe at No. 1 and the pairing of Quintin Gieseking and Tysen McGary at No. 2.

Lancers top Saints

Edinburgh was a 4-1 winner over Indianapolis Lutheran. Matthew Cox was a three-set winner at second singles for the Lancers, Rylan Londeree and Braylon Lenkner rolled at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 pair of Jayson Music and Brinnyn Moss also cruised in two sets.

Woodmen fall to Quakers

Greenwood was defeated by Plainfield, 4-1. The Woodmen (9-9, 3-3 Mid-State) got their lone point from Keegan Lane, who won in straight sets at third singles.

Volleyball wins home opener

Kaitlyn Lavy delivered career highs of 23 kills and six aces to help Franklin College defeat Kenyon 25-21, 25-14, 17-25, 25-23 at Spurlock Center on Thursday. Brionna Linkel set a new personal standard with 40 assists for the Grizzlies (5-8).
