College notebook: Spetter helps Butler football remain undefeated

Butler University junior linebacker Brayton Spetter, a former Center Grove player, led the Bulldogs in tackles with six as they improved to 3-0 with a 53-0 victory over visiting Hanover.

Defensive back Matt Soderdahl made five tackles and broke up a pass for Hillsdale College football in its 21-6 loss at Michigan Tech.

Franklin College receiver Owen Wright made four catches for 70 yards and his team’s lone touchdown in a 48-6 loss at Hope.

Grace College freshman Camille Short picked up NCCAA National Golfer of the Week honors after leading her team to a second-place finish at the Battle at Blackthorn with a second-round score of 73.

Sophomore Sage Parsetich tied for 30th place individually with scores of 81, 83 and 75 as Indiana Wesleyan placed seventh as a team at The Velvet women’s golf tournament.

University of Indianapolis freshman Lexi Stuart shot 15 over par to finish tied for 48th individually as the Greyhounds competed at the DBU Classic.

Rose-Hulman senior Meg Fosnot carded scores of 87 and 88 to tie for 89th individually as her team participated in the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.

Sophomore Drew Rowen tied for 37th individually by finishing 17 over par as the UIndy men’s golf squad participated in the Get To Foundation Invitational.

Butler women’s volleyball lost all three matches at the GCU Classic, though senior Grace Boggess did supply the Bulldogs with 16 kills and five digs.

Winthrop lost all three of its matches at the Black and Gold Invitational, with senior defensive specialist Rylie McMahen producing six digs in the match against Clemson.

Junior Katie Egenolf produced 12 digs and three kills for Ball State, which won two of three matches at the Indiana Invitational.

Freshman Emerson Donaldson stood out for Rose-Hulman women’s tennis, posting a 4-2 record — and going 4-0 against Division III opponents — at the DePauw Invitational.

Indiana Wesleyan defeated Goshen College, 6-1, with freshman Lauren Dick winning at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3, and at No. 3 doubles, 6-1.

Southern Indiana junior midfielder Peyton Murphy finished with an assist in the women’s soccer team’s 2-1 victory over Bellarmine.

Senior goalkeeper Ian Rowe made 10 saves for the Franklin College men’s soccer team in its 8-0 loss to Luther.

Ball State women’s cross country hosted the We Fly Championship Preview, with freshman Tori Jackson running a time of 24 minutes, 10.18 seconds in her collegiate debut.

UIndy women’s golf took part in the DBU Classic, with Ava Ray tying for 46th individually by finishing 11 over par.

Jacksonville redshirt junior Cami Kelsay finished with 26 kills and 21 digs in her team’s three matches at Georgia’s Classic City Clash.

Hanover College freshman Brooklyn York had two kills in a four-set win over Trine.

Florida Tech freshman Scarlett Kimbrell had a kill and four digs in a five-set loss to Spring Hill at the Outback Invitational.

Wabash College junior linebacker Gavin Ruppert was named North Coast Atlantic Conference defensive player of the week after his career-best 18 tackles in the Little Giants’ 30-13 victory over Ohio Wesleyan.

Senior Ethan Gray won his match at No. 2 singles, but Indiana Wesleyan men’s tennis lost to Goshen College, 5-2.

Joy Maze had three digs as Manchester volleyball downed Franklin College in five sets. In a loss to Trine, Maze finished with eight kills and 10 digs.

Anderson women’s soccer player Emily Metzger had two assists for the Ravens in their 3-1 win over Olivet.

Marian University redshirt sophomore Riley Palmeter had two kickoff returns for a total of 28 yards, and made two tackles, in a 34-31 win over Concordia Ann Arbor.

Greenwood Christian

Freshman kicker Charlie Overton kicked off twice for Franklin College football in its 48-6 loss at Hope, averaging 49 yards.
