FRANKLIN, IN.

Robert N. Barton, 79, of Franklin, Indiana, formerly of Bargersville, Indiana passed away September 13, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born April 28, 1945, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana to Joseph Graham Barton and Mary Elise Simpson Barton.

Robert graduated from West Vigo High School in 1963. He married Juanita L. Barton on June 6, 1965, in Terre Haute Indiana. He then went on to attend Indiana State University and graduated in 1967 with B.S. degree in Industrial Technology.

Robert and Juanita relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1967 to start a working career. Robert worked for Diamond Chain Company for 36 years. He retired in 2003 as the Director of Engineering and Quality.

Robert enjoyed his life; he enjoyed being with family and children. Robert was very active in his children’s lives, Bob did everything from being a boy scout leader to coaching softball and baseball. His hobbies included woodworking, traveling, camping, reading, computers, and photography.

Surviving is his children Gregory Barton (Stacia) of Franklin, IN, Lorie Ayres (Les) of Wanamaker, IN, Daniel Barton (Julie) of Indianapolis, IN, and Tracy Barton (Jon) of San Diego, CA, his grandchildren Donald Barton (Sarah) of New Whiteland, IN, Benjamin Barton (Brittany) of Franklin, IN, Lillian Barton of Franklin, IN, Adam Cunningham of New Castle, IN, Jacob Cunningham of New Castle, IN, Chelsea Ellaby (Brandon) of Kennard, Haley Egelin (Will) of Filmore and Kingsley Mahall of San Diego, and his great-grandchildren Brayden, Kaitlyn, Wyatt, Chloe, Benny, Keegan, Aliza, Sabastian, Noah, Raelynn, Addison, Lyanna and Niko.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Barton, wife Juanita L Barton, and grandson Daniel Gray.

Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on September 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) Franklin, Indiana, and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/ obituary/robertbarton. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until service time. His final resting place will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
