Sectional pairings set

The IHSAA released the brackets for state tournament play on Monday night, less than 24 hours before sectional play was set to begin.

Sectional host Center Grove, the state’s sixth-ranked team, will play a first-round match Tuesday against crosstown rival Greenwood, with the winner to advance to a Wednesday semifinal against Franklin. On the bottom side of the bracket, No. 24 Whiteland will meet Indian Creek in the other semi; the championship match is scheduled for Thursday.

Edinburgh drew a first-round bye in the Columbus North Sectional and will play either Hauser or Columbus East in a semifinal match.

Lancers edge Morristown

Edinburgh finished out the regular season with a 3-2 victory over Morristown on Monday. The Lancers swept the two doubles points, with Rylan Londeree and Braylon Lenkner winning in straight sets at No. 1 and the duo of Brinnyn Moss and Jayson Music doing the same at No. 2. Edinburgh won by forfeit at third singles.

Edinburgh falls in four sets

Edinburgh took a 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 25-17 loss against Waldron on Monday. Kenna Streeval had nine kills and 35 digs for the Lancers, while Kinzie Purvis contributed 20 assists and Gracie Lawson served up four aces.

Trojans get past Panthers

Class 4A No. 7 Center Grove ran its win streak to eight matches with a 25-13, 25-20, 26-28, 25-17 home win over Jennings County. The Trojans move to 19-5 on the season.
