Warriors, Trojans advance to final

Whiteland and host Center Grove earned spots in Thursday’s sectional championship match with 5-0 semifinal victories on Wednesday afternoon. The 24th-ranked Warriors swept Indian Creek, while the No. 6 Trojans dispatched Franklin.

For Whiteland, Spencer Gillespie, A.J. Stephenson and Jeremiah Hurt won their singles matches in straight sets. Isaac Phegley and Gavin Stubbe were two-set winners at first doubles, while the No. 2 pairing of Quintin Gieseking and Tysen McGary earned a three-set victory over the Braves’ Austin Emenhiser and Aaron Hickson.

Center Grove won all five points in straight sets against the Grizzly Cubs, with Tyler Lane, Yuvraj Dasari and Quinn Smith sweeping the singles points, Carson Bush and Daksh Patel winning at No. 1 doubles and Russell Dean and Jack Dybwad emerging on top at No. 2.

Volleyball sweeps Wilmington

McKenzie Schroeder had 17 kills and Kaitlyn Lavy added 15 along with four service aces as Franklin College polished off a 25-22, 25-14, 25-21 home sweep of Wilmington (Ohio) on Wednesday. Brionna Linkel had a career-best 43 assists for the Grizzlies (7-10).
