13-year-old arrested after threats made against Edinburgh Middle School

A 13-year-old was arrested after making a threat towards Edinburgh Middle School Thursday.

Edinburgh Community School Corp. announced on Facebook that a threat was made at the middle school and reported to the Edinburgh Police Department.

As a result of the investigation, the juvenile was detained and taken to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center. Further investigation is still ongoing, according to a news release from Edinburgh Police.

Edinburgh Police Chief Doyne Little said they take all threats seriously and work closely with the school to keep children and the community safe. There is no threat to the public, he said.

Any confirmed threats will result in immediate disciplinary action and potential charges, Edinburgh schools said in Facebook post.

“Edinburgh Police and Edinburgh School[s] take any threats very seriously and the police will make arrests and forward charges to the prosecutor’s office of all credible threats,” police said.
