Cougars ease into sectional final

Class A No. 5 Greenwood Christian had little difficulty with Christel House Academy on Wednesday, coasting to a 7-1 victory in the semifinal round of the Indianapolis Lutheran Sectional. The Cougars (10-4-2) will face the host Saints in the championship match on Saturday evening.

Girls volleyball

Trojans defeated by Bruins

Class 4A No. 7 Center Grove suffered a tough 25-19, 25-21, 17-25, 25-16 setback at 3A No. 2 Tri-West on Wednesday evening. The Trojans finish the regular season with a 22-8 record.

Franklin College

Volleyball splits road matches

Facing a pair of NAIA opponents in Terre Haute on Wednesday, Franklin College lost in straight sets to St. Mary-of-the-Woods before bouncing back with a 17-25, 25-23, 25-9, 25-12 win over University of Health Science and Pharmacy. Hope Moring collected 17 kills, 16 assists and four aces in the victory for the Grizzlies (8-12).

Women’s soccer falls to Pioneers

Jaiden Baker scored in the opening minute of the match, but Franklin College couldn’t end up keeping pace with host Transylvania in a 3-1 loss on Wednesday. Makenna Mundy made eight saves in the loss for the Grizzlies (3-5-2, 2-1 HCAC).

Men’s soccer battles to draw

Franklin College kept Transylvania off the board to preserve a 0-0 tie in HCAC action on Wednesday. Ian Rowe stopped 13 shots for the Grizzlies (0-10-2, 0-2-1).
