College notebook: Ayro powers Wright State volleyball to wins

The Wright State women’s volleyball team improved to 15-3 on the season with a pair of 3-0 shutouts of Youngstown State. Sophomore outside hitter Mya Ayro, a former Greenwood player, led the way by totaling 28 kills and three digs over the two matches.

Greenwood

Wabash College football scored a 52-0 victory at Oberlin, with freshman linebacker Tanner Crouch making three tackles for the Little Giants. Junior linebacker Gavin Ruppert recovered a fumble.

Joy Maze finished with 14 kills and three blocks as the Manchester volleyball squad topped Earlham in five sets.

Franklin

Fifth-year senior Stephanie Brady made good on one of her team-high five shots on goal as the University of Indianapolis women’s soccer team shut out Lincoln (Missouri).

Jacksonville redshirt junior outside hitter Cami Kelsay had four kills, three digs and two assists in her team’s five-set victory at West Georgia.

Freshman middle blocker Brooklyn York had two digs for Hanover College women’s volleyball in a four-set win over Berea College.

Senior tight end Drew Byerly made a 14-yard reception for Marian football in its 77-21 home loss to Indiana Wesleyan.

Center Grove

Rose-Hulman women’s tennis defeated Earlham College, 5-2, with freshman Emerson Donaldson playing for the victorious No. 1 doubles team, 7-6, and winning her match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Her doubles win was the team’s lone point in a 6-1 loss to Greenville.

Indiana Wesleyan sophomore Sage Parsetich posted scores of 86, 81 and 85 to place seventh as the Wildcats won the TPC Deere Run Classic.

Freshman Camille Short shot a two-round score of 174 as Grace College placed third at the Holy Cross Invitational.

Junior outside hitter Katie Egenolf finished with four kills, eight digs and three service aces as Ball State women’s volleyball scored a 3-0 decision over Akron. She had seven kills, 10 digs and an ace in a four-set home loss to Buffalo.

Butler senior middle blocker Grace Boggess had three kills and a dig in a loss to Connecticut and eight kills, two service aces and a dig in a four-set win over Providence.

Ohio State defensive end Caden Curry made two tackles in the football team’s 32-31 loss at Oregon.

Hillsdale College defensive back Matt Soderdahl had three tackles in a 36-35 overtime loss at home to Walsh.

Indian Creek

Sophomore quarterback Arjun Lothe completed 10 of his 11 pass attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown in helping Indiana Wesleyan football to a 77-21 win at Marian.

Grace College men’s golfer Braxton Christie carded a two-round total of 179 at the Whistling Straits Classic.

Anderson women’s golf finished fifth at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preview, with sophomore Hannah Emenhiser tying for 20th individually with her two-round score of 183.

Marian women’s cross country competed at the Ray Bullock Invitational, with senior Luci Woodrum finishing 102nd overall in 27 minutes, 25.9 seconds.

Edinburgh

Marian redshirt sophomore receiver Riley Palmeter made a catch for 12 yards in the football team’s 77-21 loss to visiting Indiana Wesleyan.

Senior defensive end Owen Volk (Greenwood) made two tackles for Wabash College football in a 52-0 win at Oberlin.
