Royals knock off Trojans
Roncalli used a stout defensive effort to earn a 17-7 victory at Class 5A No. 6 East Central on Friday night.
Will Hegwood intercepted a pair of passes to lead the way for the Royals (4-4), who also got a pickoff and long return from A.J. Richardson. Zach Dozier scored both Roncalli touchdowns while rushing for 89 yards; quarterback Collin Ash ran for 83 yards and threw for 66 more in the win. Gavin Louthain’s 40-yard field goal was the lone first-half score for either team.
The Royals next host Northview in a sectional quarterfinal game.
Braves fall to Knights in finale
Indian Creek’s shot at winning the Western Indiana Conference in its final season of league membership didn’t go as planned, with host Northview rolling to a 48-7 victory.
The lone score for the Braves (4-5, 3-1 WIC Gold) came on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Evan Clark to Jaxon Ramey midway through the second quarter.
Creek moves on to host Edgewood in sectional quarterfinal action.
Lancers blanked by Panthers
Edinburgh’s regular season ended with a 63-0 loss at Park Tudor. The Lancers (0-9) host a sectional quarterfinal against Class A No. 5 North Decatur.
