Greenwood 20-year-old arrested on attempted murder charge

A Greenwood man was arrested after police say he tried to kill two of his relatives over the weekend.

Joseph Mak Davidson, 20, was arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder, domestic battery, intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness shooting a firearm into an inhabited structure and possessing a machine gun without a license — all felonies — and criminal mischief as a misdemeanor. Formal charges will be determined by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Greenwood Police began investigating after they were called to a shots fired/domestic disturbance incident on the 900 block of Cherry Tree Lane around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. This is in the Cherry Tree Walk neighborhood on the city’s west side.

Davidson was arrested after the incident, a report from Greenwood Police shows. He reportedly tried to kill two of his relatives, said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief of police.

Additional information was not immediately available Monday, and more information is expected to be released once charges are formally filed.

Davidson was booked into the Johnson County jail on Sunday, where he remains held on bond.
