Shepherd begins Q-Series play

Center Grove graduate Erica Shepherd, who recently finished her first professional season on the Epson Tour, shot a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of the LPGA Q-Series in Venice, Florida on Tuesday. Shepherd, who birdied the par-4 first hole before stringing together 15 consecutive pars before a birdie-bogey finish, is tied for 24th place entering the second of the four rounds.

The top 35 players (plus ties) in the 194-player field will advance to the final stage of qualifying in Mobile, Alabama in early December. The top 25 at that final stage will earn 2025 LPGA Tour status.
