Greenwood’s Halloween Parade set for Saturday

Greenwood officials have planned a community Halloween activity this weekend that’s so much fun, it’s scary.

On Saturday, the community will gather at 5 p.m. in Old Town Greenwood for the Halloween Parade, featuring decked out floats, costumed performers and other entertainment.

The Halloween Parade was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a chance for the community to come together in a socially distant, safe way.

“These events are what the community, and I look forward to,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers in a press release. “The Parks and Recreation Department has outdone themselves throughout this year by providing many memorable opportunities for families and these two events will certainly create even more memories for residents.”

Children will have the opportunity to receive candy from nearly 50 decorated parade floats and participants.

The parade will begin at Craig Park and go up Washington Street, then west on Main Street before heading south on Madison Avenue. The parade will go back east on Surina Way and return to Craig Park.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to wear costumes and line the parade route for even more trick-or-treating.
