Franklin College presents fall concerts

Franklin College announced its slate of fall concerts this week, featuring a variety of music students showcasing their skills for skills.

The Franklin College Music Department will present the Fall Instrumental Chamber Concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 and the Fall Vocal Chamber Concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Both concerts will be in the Clarence E. and Inez R. Custer Theatre in Old Main. Admission is free.

The Instrumental Chamber Concert will feature performances of stirring classical pieces from the likes of Bach and Handel. Three distinct bands representing various music courses offered at the College will perform. They include:

The Franklin Jazz Collective: Hunter Burnham of Monrovia will play saxophone; Alyssa Boler of Paragon will play flute; Patrick Martinez of Indianapolis will play drums: Lily Callis of Madison will play vibraphone; Sydnee Kidwell of Batavia, Ohio will play piano; and Audra Barclay of Indianapolis will play bass.

The Franklin Flute Trio: Alyssa Boler of Paragon; Peyton Lamb of New Albany; and Whitney Koors of Greensburg.

The Franklin Woodwind Studio: Hunter Burnham of Monrovia will play alto saxophone; Alyssa Boler of Paragon and Peyton Lamb of New Albany will both play flute selections.

The Vocal Chamber Concert will feature performances by Franklin College music majors and students enrolled in vocal lessons at the Studio of Eric DeForest. The concert will showcase students’ talents and include expert commentary from DeForest as they perform duets and solos. Genres will range from jazz and musical theater standards to operatic masterpieces.
