GPL Column: Celebrating Taylor Swift in Indiana

Hey, Swifties!

Exciting news: Taylor Swift is coming to Indianapolis, and you know what that means — it’s time to throw an epic celebration at the library to prepare. We’re hosting not one, but two amazing parties: one for tweens and one for teens to get everyone in the groove.

Whether you’re a fan of her early country hits or her latest anthems, you won’t want to miss out on this. Let’s dive into the details, and get ready to dance, sing, and celebrate!

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for this. I remember when I found out Taylor was coming to town — I basically screamed. Her music has been the soundtrack to so many of our lives, and now we get to celebrate it together. Picture this: glitter, friendship bracelets and a whole lot of singing along to our favorite songs.

Just last week, I had a mini-dance party in my living room with my friend Peyton while blasting “Cruel Summer.” We were twirling and belting out the bridge like we were front row at a concert. That’s the kind of energy we want to bring to our library parties.

At the parties, you’ll be able to make your very own friendship bracelets. Plus, we’ll have our own mini concert where you can show off your skills. Who wouldn’t want to be the star of “Love Story” or glide around the floor as you dance to “Willow”? And of course there will be a Taylor-themed trivia game, where you can prove your Swiftie knowledge and maybe even win an awesome prize.

Here’s the cherry on top: Taylor’s music is now available on Hoopla, our free library streaming service. This means you can listen to her albums anytime you want, whether you’re practicing your karaoke skills or just jamming out with friends. You can relive the magic of her concerts right from your own couch, making it the perfect lead-up to our parties and Taylor’s visit to Indy.

So grab your besties, find a costume to honor your favorite Taylor era, and get ready to celebrate like there’s no tomorrow. Check out our website for all the details on dates and times. Let’s make some unforgettable memories together, and of course, celebrate the one and only Taylor Swift!
