Franklin College

Women’s soccer edged by Pioneers

Playing No. 3 seed Transylvania in HCAC tournament quarterfinal action, Franklin College saw its season end with a 2-1 defeat. Freshman Issy Pridemore scored the lone goal for the Grizzlies (5-9-3) in the 74th minute, while Makenna Mundy made eight saves in her final collegiate match.

Cross country competes in HCAC meet

Franklin College competed in the HCAC Championships at Blue River Memorial Park in Shelbyville on Saturday, with the men’s team placing fourth and the women finishing sixth. John Asplund was 12th and William Hirsch 16th for the Grizzly men, while Ella Bashor (19th) was the top women’s finisher.

Swimming & diving dominates home opener

Franklin College posted comfortable men’s and women’s victories over Bluffton and Manchester on Saturday afternoon. Event winners for the Grizzly women included Kat Lundy (200 freestyle and 200 backstroke), Petal Sloan (100 back, 500 free), Avery Tomlinson (100 and 200 breaststroke), Celeste Hollis (50 free, 100 butterfly), Erin Perkins (1,000 free), Jyllian Antle (200 fly), Bri Gogis (200 individual medley) and Kaleigh Schuler (1-meter diving). Sam Hittel won the 100 breast, 200 back and 200 IM for the men, who also got first-place efforts from Zachary Jackson-Blaine (100 free, 100 fly), Tyler Wood (1,000 free), Kaden Cummins (200 free), Will Johnson (100 back), Isaac Layton (200 fly), J.C. Chappell (200 breast) and Bryson Howe (500 free).
