Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of October 28

Work continues on the southside as construction crews work to complete the I-69 Finish line project.

On Interstate 465, drivers should expect nightly single and double left-lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-465 in various locations between Interstates 70 and 65 from Monday through Friday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will complete lane shifts and pavement markings on new pavement. During these lane restrictions, 20-minute traffic stops are also possible from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., according to an Indiana Department of Transportation project update.

The eastbound I-465 exit ramp to Harding Street is now open, INDOT officials say. The exit ramp opened Saturday, allowing traffic to exit I-465 onto northbound Harding Street and temporary travel lanes for southbound Harding Street.

The Harding Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465 is anticipated to open by Nov. 11. Upon this opening, all Harding Street ramps will be in their permanent configurations, according to INDOT.

Work also continues for the Epler Avenue/State Road 37 intersection reconstruction. The eastern side of the Epler Avenue and State Road 37 intersection closed Monday, while the western side of the intersection will close on or after Wednesday, INDOT officials say.

The entire intersection will remain closed for up to 45 days. The Epler Avenue and Belmont Avenue intersection will remain open during this closure.

Elsewhere, a double-lane closure is planned on eastbound I-465 between Mann Road and Harding Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday to allow crews a safe working environment while shifting traffic onto new permanent pavement and adding pavement markings. Drivers should also anticipate a single-lane condition on westbound I-465 between I-65 and Mann Road from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, to allow crews a safe working environment while shifting lanes and adding pavement striping onto new pavement as well.

This work also includes the closures of the northbound and southbound I-65 ramps to westbound I-465, the northbound U.S. 31/East Street ramp to westbound I-465 and the westbound I-465 exit ramp to Harding Street, INDOT officials say.

The southbound U.S. 31/East Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465 remains closed into late 2024 as well, officials say.

As for Interstate 69, a single, left-lane closure on northbound I-69 between Banta Road and Fairview Road will restrict traffic on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. as crews complete corrugated pipe work.

INDOT officials are also reminding drivers that the speed limit on the interstate between State Road 144 and Fairview Road is 55 mph, while the limit between Fairview Road and I-465 is 45 mph.

Additionally, in Johnson and Marion counties, speed limits are still reduced throughout most of the I-69 Finish Line corridor. Drivers are asked to follow all posted speed limits as construction continues through the remainder of 2024, according to INDOT.
