Learn about literary tour of England

Greenwood Public Library will host an information session for a literary tour of England planned for this fall.

An informational session for the trip will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library, 310 S. Meridian St.

The trip scheduled from Sept. 7 to 17 is a fundraiser for the library. A percentage of each booking will be donated to the library.

The trip will include several areas of England that have historical, literary and film connections. Highlights include a visit to the Harry Potter studios, Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-Upon-Avon, villages and locations that appeared on Downton Abbey, overnight stays in historic hotels with first-class service and the Jane Austen Festival in Bath. Travel will be via coach bus or van to London, Oxford, Gloucester, Bristol and Winchester, touring beautiful homes, museums and universities.

Breakfast is included each morning of the tour, along with a special pub dinner at the Eagle and Child Pub in Oxford (where C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien would meet), and a true English tea at Cogges Manor Farm (known as Yew Tree Farm in Downton Abbey). Anyone 21 and older is welcome to join the tour.

The cost of the trip is $2,000 per person and includes all accommodations, transportation, breakfast each morning and tours and activities. Flights will be an additional cost, but a lower group rate will be available soon.
