StoryWalk premiering at library

Johnson County Public Library and Franklin Parks & Recreation are premiering a new storytelling experience this summer.

Franklin’s first StoryWalk will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the Franklin Urban Forest.

The walk will include activities that combine with storytelling. Visitors can read the first book, “Duck on a Bike,” by David Shannon, as they stroll the trail.

Pages of the book will be placed on signs along the trail. The signs will be changed periodically as new stories are placed on the walk.

Grand opening activities include a ribbon-cutting with Franklin Mayor Joe McGuinness at 10 a.m.

Other activities include a farm petting zoo; a cookout, a free lunch for children from 11 a.m. to noon; a farm craft; bounce house; scavenger hunt; JCPL library card sign-ups; a Franklin Police Department bike patrol; Franklin fire truck; and summer reading program registration.
