Mary Catherine Milhouse Hauswald

<p>FRANKLIN</p>
<p>Mary Catherine Milhouse Hauswald, 81, of the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.</p>
<p>She was born on Dec. 24, 1934, to Paul and Frances (Noblitt) Milhouse in Paxton, Illinois.</p>
<p>She graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and from the University of Indianapolis.</p>
<p>She moved with her husband, Dr. Ronald Hauswald, to New Albany in 1959 and lived there until they moved to Franklin in 2010.</p>
<p>She was very active in Silver Street United Methodist Church in New Albany, serving as accompanist and director of three choirs at the church for a total of 33 years, and also served in various other capacities in the life of the church.</p>
<p>For 18 years she served as a trustee of the United Methodist Children’s Home in Lebanon, and for eight years she served on the New Albany Floyd County Board of School Trustees. She was also a board member of United Charities, and served as president of the New Albany District United Methodist Women. She was a current member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin.</p>
<p>On June 12, 1955, she married Ronald L. Hauswald, who survives.</p>
<p>They have three children, Gregory Hauswald (Pam) of Brownsburg, Jeffrey Hauswald (Kathryn) of Omaha, Nebraska and Carol Wietholter (Kyle) of Zionsville; seven grandchildren, Ross Hauswald (Jamie) of Columbus, Megan Calfee (Tyler) of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul Hauswald (Krista) of Brownsburg, Ashleigh Ringle (Tyler) of Waterloo, Nebraska, Sarah Tribbett (Seth) of Indianapolis and Michael and Eric Wietholter of Zionsville.  Additionally, they have six great-grandchildren with two more arriving before year’s end. Mary is also survived by a sister, Pauline Vermillion (Arthur) of Indianapolis, and a brother, David Milhouse (Martha) of Franklin.</p>
<p>The Revs. Jerry Rairdon and Jenothy Rather will conduct a memorial service celebrating the life of Mary at 4 p.m. on Friday at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Adams St., Franklin. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the service time on Friday at the church. Inurnment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in New Albany.</p>
<p>Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin is handling the arrangements.</p>
