South Decatur, which lost the past two weeks, got in form for a 42-6 victory Friday at Edinburgh.
The Cougars opened up a 21-0 halftime lead before the Lancers responded with a four-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Jacob Atha in the third quarter.
Whatever momentum Edinburgh mustered proved short-lived, however.
South Decatur scored the game’s final three touchdowns to improve to 3-2 on the season going into next week’s home contest against Park Tudor.
“We had a couple of balls we just dropped that could have made it closer,” Lancers coach Derrick Ball said. “And on defense we had them in some third-and-4s and third-and-5s, and we just didn’t come through.”
Edinburgh (1-4) will be home for a third consecutive week when it hosts Milan.
