<h4><strong>Boys tennis</strong></h4>
<strong>Braves get past Warriors</strong>

In a battle of Johnson County programs, Indian Creek defended its home courts with a 3-2 decision against Whiteland on Tuesday.

The Warriors claimed the top two singles matches with straight-set wins from Adam Zietlow and Garrison Pelfree. Indian Creek’s Dalton Campbell won his match at No. 3 singles, while the tandem of Bryce Waddell and Scott Russell prevailed at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles, Cody Hart teamed with Jeremy Lee for the win as Indian Creek improved its record to 8-9.

On Monday, Whiteland defeated Greensburg, 5-0.

<strong>South edges Center Grove</strong>

Bloomington South defeated Center Grove 3-2.

The Trojans’ wins came at No. 2 singles with Nic Ballesteros scoring a 6-1, 6-4 decision in his match, and No. 3 singles player Mitch Runkle winning, 6-1, 7-5.

<strong>Lancers shut out Trinity Lutheran</strong>

Edinburgh dominated its match against Trinity Lutheran with a 5-0 victory.

Singles wins went to the Lancers’ Carlos Pazmino, Coltan Henderson and Gavin Hancock. Straight-set triumphs also were recorded by Edinburgh’s doubles teams of Blade Elliott and Tommy Schneider, as well as Bladen Hancock and Kegan Jones.

<strong>Roncalli loses to Panthers</strong>

Roncalli lost to visiting North Central 5-0 in the second round of the annual Marion County Tournament.

The Rebels’ season record is 7-10.

<strong>Trojans top Dragons</strong>

Ben Derose scored the lone goal of the match off of an assist from Griffin Smith as Center Grove defeated New Palestine, 1-0.

<strong>Rebels finish in a tie</strong>

Roncalli battled arch-rival Cathedral to a 2-2 tie.

Henry Sang scored one goal for the Rebels with Will Barrett picking up the assist. The game-tying goal was by Roncalli’s Mateo Gonzalez off an assist from Robert Thang.

<strong>Grizzly Cubs fall short</strong>

New Palestine scored a 4-1 victory against Franklin Community on Monday, with senior Delanie Hill scoring the Grizzly Cubs’ lone goal.

<strong>Whiteland loses to Artesians</strong>

Elaina Robards contributed 20 digs for Whiteland, but it wasn’t enough, as Martinsville scored a 25-13, 25-12, 25-22 victory.

<strong>Lancers up record to 13-9</strong>

Edinburgh defeated Oldenburg Academy, 25-14, 25-8, 28-26. Its record is now 13-9 overall and 3-1 in conference.

<strong>FRST swimmers do well</strong>

Members of the Franklin Regional Swim Team (FRST) fared well at the Indiana Open Water State Championships at Prairie Creek Reservoir near Muncie on Sept. 17.

FRST placed third of the 25 teams competing.

Individually, Misha Machavariani took first among the boys in the 10-under age group, while Franco Chirinos placed fifth. Carleigh Schotting came in fifth among girls in this age division.

In the girls 11-12 age group, Grace Lux placed second, Sarah Ziegler seventh and Iyllian Antle 13th. These three also helped comprise the victorious relay team.

Blake Rains finished fourth and Daniel Utterback eighth in 11-12 boys. Jennifer Utterback touched the wall 10th in 13-14 girls, while Nicole Ziegler came in third in the girls 15-over category.
