Sylvester L. “Lee” Snedaker

<p>GREENWOOD</p>
<p>Sylvester L. “Lee” Snedaker, 93, of Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. He was born in Elkhart, on Oct. 24, 1923, to Sylvester and Jolsey Snedaker.</p>
<p>As a child, Lee resided at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home in Knightstown.</p>
<p>He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a gunner’s mate, serving in both Korea and World War II.</p>
<p>He then worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 41 years and was a member of the Pioneer Club.</p>
<p>In retirement, Lee enjoyed time with his wife, Lucy, participating in bowling, square and round dancing, traveling and being members of numerous dance clubs.</p>
<p>Lee also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and training dogs.</p>
<p>Sylvester is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lucille Snedaker; daughters, Sharon (Richard) Avery and Cheryl Sims; brother, George Snedaker, sisters, Rosa Miles and Mary Fryer; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, also in the mortuary. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.</p>
