Local man arrested on theft charge

A man was arrested after a resident reported he stole a gaming system and DVDs from a home near Franklin on Monday afternoon.

Jeremy Miller, 22, was arrested on a charge of burglary and theft.

The owner of a home in the 4000 block of Greensburg Road saw Miller leaving the house and noticed an Xbox controller in his pocket. The resident knew Miller, who then returned the controller and left.

The resident went inside to see if anything had been taken and called police, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies found the car Miller left in Franklin and learned from a passenger that items had been dumped out of the vehicle in two locations, the report said.

The items the resident reported stolen were recovered and returned, the report said.

Miller, 135 Lynhurst St., was arrested and taken to Johnson County jail. He was held on $4,300 bond.
