<p>EVANSVILLE</p>
<p>Francis E. (Gene) Johnson of Evansville, formerly of Franklin, died on Nov. 7, 2016, in Evansville.</p>
<p>Gene was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Franklin, to Virgil and Opal Adams Johnson.</p>
<p>He attended school in Franklin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving for eight years.</p>
<p>Gene worked in security for Clark Security Co. before retirement.</p>
<p>He is survived by four children, Crist Johnson of Franklin, and Rusty Johnson, Kelly Ahrens and Michelle Kimmerling, all of Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren, Derek Johnson, Josh, Patrick and Amanda Ahrens, Trevor, Tyler and Trey Young, Randy Johnson; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Susie Davis of Franklin, and Sharon Policastro of Florida; a brother, Wendell Johnson of Washington; two uncles; and several cousins.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.</p>
<p>A funeral was held Nov.10 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St., in Evansville. Burial was in Campground Cemetery.</p>
