Grizzly Cubs top Woodmen

Damon Dickey’s 31 led No. 10 Franklin to a 148-176 triumph over Greenwood at The Legends on Monday. Quin Edwards (38), Ian McCullough (39) and Jake Lock (40) rounded out the scoring for the Grizzly Cubs.

Lancers place third

Max Blandford finished with a round of 42, but Edinburgh finished behind host North Decatur and Hauser in a three-way match.

Softball

Grizzly Cubs edged on road

Class 4A No. 7 Shelbville scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to squeak past visiting Franklin, 2-1. Mia Herbert’s RBI double plated the lone run for the Grizzly Cubs (11-7), while pitcher Izzy Harrison struck out 14 and allowed just three hits.

Baseball

Royals overpower Franklin

Home runs from Johnny Roeder and Andrew Baugh helped Roncalli to an 11-4 victory at Franklin. Dylan Craig also drove in two runs for the Royals (11-6), while Max Clark and Beau Baker had two RBIs apiece in defeat for the Grizzly Cubs (15-5).

Girls tennis

Warriors sweep Indian Creek

Whiteland posted a 5-0 home win over Indian Creek on Monday, winning all five matches in straight sets. Sarah Scott, Maddie Nieto and Sara Ullrich swept the singles points for the Warriors (14-4), Molly Brosnan and Natalie Cloer won at No. 1 doubles and Brooke Boehnlein and Kaylee Hoagland got the victory in the No. 2 spot.

Trojans get past Irish

Seventh-ranked Center Grove got a third-set tiebreaker win from Sapna Vyas and Sydney Plowman at first doubles to get past No. 16 Cathedral, 3-2. Ashlee Fisk won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, while Hudson Gilstorf and Lauren Dick did the same at second doubles.

Lancers fall just short

Edinburgh got straight-set victories from Annelise Lollar and Bethany Burton in the top two singles spots but took a 3-2 loss to Southwestern.
