Habitat for Humanity puts on annual Soup Bowl fundraiser for new home owners

Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County’s annual Soup Bowl is set for Feb. 26 — where a warm bowl of soup can help future homeowners get into their first houses.

The fundraising event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Scott Hall at the Johnson County fairgrounds in Franklin.

For $25, attendees get to pick out a handmade pottery bowl and enjoy soups donated by local restaurants, as well as bread, dessert and drink. A silent auction will be held — items will include pottery.

Buy your tickets in advance at Horizon bank branches, Franklin Mutual Savings Bank branches, Edinburgh Wright-Hageman Public Library, Habitat ReStore and at the door the day of the event.

Habitat builds houses in partnership with qualified low-income clients. Homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, ability to repay a no-interest mortgage and willingness to partner with Habitat. The homeowners’ mortgage payments go directly to Habitat to support the construction of additional homes across the county.
