Area winter guard programs earn top 10 finishes

Winter guards in the area danced and twirled their way to top 10 finishes at central Indiana competitions during the weekend.

The Greenwood Community High School winter guard snagged fifth place at an invitational in Zionsville.

Guards at Whiteland Community High School competed at Greenfield Central, with the junior varsity earning fourth in its class and the varsity guard snagging seventh place in its class.

Indian Creek’s winter guard earned seventh place at Greenfield Central.

Center Grove did not have a guard compete. However, the high school’s jazz ensemble performed at the Pendleton Heights jazz festival, where Nathan Rakes received an Outstanding Soloist award. The school’s indoor percussion performed at Owen Valley.

Results were not available for Franklin Community High School.
