County’s show choirs fare well at weekend competitions

Local show choirs sang and danced their way to top three placements at weekend show choir competitions.

The Center Grove varsity show choirs all snagged grand champion status at the Xtreme Choir Showdown at Jefferson High School in Lafayette.

Sound System and Debtones were awarded best vocal, best visual, best show, and grand champions in the mixed and unisex divisions.

In the Broadway/Pop Solo Competition, Sarah Anderson was named grand champion and Haley Burgh earned first runner-up.

In the show choir competition, Neely Branham of The Debtones was awarded outstanding performer, Maddy Rau of Sound System was awarded outstanding performer, Morganne Keller of Sound System was awarded outstanding female soloist within a show, and Victor Gichina of Sound System was awarded outstanding male soloist in a show.

The Whiteland Community High School Rhythm Masters and Expressions competed at the Franklin Central Hoosier Show Choir Classic competition. Both choirs received third place, with Rhythm Masters competing in the large mixed show choir division and Expressions taking the spot in the unisex division.
