Softball

<strong>Warriors shut out Artesians</strong>

Debbie Hill tossed a two-hit shutout and added an RBI double as Whiteland beat visiting Martinsville, 5-0. Macy Cornelius, Jordan Smith and Josslynn Harbert also drove in runs for the Warriors (8-5, 5-2 Mid-State).

<strong>Trojans outslug Giants</strong>

Alexis Rudd was 4 for 5 with a home run and six RBIs as Center Grove overpowered Ben Davis, 15-7. Lex Warner added a homer for the Class 4A No. 7 Trojans (13-3, 4-0 MIC), who got three hits each from Emma Fair and Hannah Haberstroh and three RBIs from Ashlynn Wolff.

<strong>Grizzly Cubs edged by Pioneers</strong>

Franklin lost at Class 4A No. 3 Mooresville, 3-1. Izzy Harrison drove in Morgan Carter for the Grizzly Cubs (9-4, 4-3 Mid-State) and struck out 11 in the pitching circle.

<strong>Woodmen rally falls short</strong>

Greenwood surged late but came up a run shy at Perry Meridian, 6-5. Courtney Hankenhoff, Kiley Hankenhoff and Alicia Ader drove in runs for the Woodmen (3-9, 1-6 Mid-State).

<strong>Royals drub Heritage</strong>

Abbey Hofmann hit a grand slam to power Class 4A No. 1 Roncalli past Heritage Christian, 12-0. Kylie Freije threw a one-hitter, striking out eight, while Kate Curtis drove in three runs for the Royals (13-0, 3-0 Circle City).

<strong>Trojans sweep twinbill</strong>

Center Grove dominated a doubleheader at Ben Davis on Tuesday, winning by scores of 19-0 and 14-4. Drue Young and Jacob Wilson were the winning pitchers for the Class 4A No. 5 Trojans (14-1, 8-0 MIC).

<strong>Warriors lose to Martinsville</strong>

Whiteland dropped an 8-4 Mid-State Conference tilt to Martinsville. Ethan Shipp drove in two runs for the Warriors (4-8, 2-5), while Jonathan Crowley doubled, tripled and scored twice.

<strong>Woodmen toppled by Falcons</strong>

Greenwood took an 8-3 loss to Perry Meridian. Cade Kelly had two hits and an RBI in defeat for the Woodmen (2-7, 1-5 Mid-State).

Boys golf

<strong>Franklin wins three-way</strong>

Led by a 38 from Damon Dickey and a 39 from Ian McCullough, No. 12 Franklin rolled past Mooresville and Whiteland at The Legends, posting a team total of 162. Nate Blackwell added a 42 and Will McGuinness a 43 for the Grizzly Cubs. Whiteland, which finished third at 209, was led by a 42 from Will Davis.

<strong>Edinburgh wins at home</strong>

Max Blandford carded a 42 and Trevor Moon added a 44 to lead Edinburgh past Trinity Lutheran, Beech Grove and Medora at Timbergate. The Lancers finished with a total of 186.

<strong>Woodmen fall to Quakers</strong>

Despite a 38 from Jackson Watkins, Greenwood took its first Mid-State Conference loss of the year against Plainfield, 167-185, at Deer Creek.

Girls tennis

<strong>Braves edge Lancers</strong>

A clean doubles sweep helped Indian Creek pull out a 3-2 win over Edinburgh on Tuesday. Emilee Scott and Olivia Perry were 6-0, 6-0 winners in the first spot, while Avery Burress and Addy Tunell won by the same score at No. 2. Lauren Foster got the point at first singles for the Braves, with Edinburgh’s Bethany Burton and Jessica Walsh posting victories in the other two singles matches.

<strong>Trojans come up short</strong>

Eighth-ranked Center Grove was defeated by No. 3 Park Tudor, 3-2. Both of the Trojans’ points came in doubles, with the No. 1 duo of Sapna Vyas and Sydney Plowman winning in three sets and the second team of Hudson Gilstorf and Lauren Dick also winning.

<strong>Grizzly Cubs roll past Olympians</strong>

Franklin lost just one game overall in a 5-0 rout of Columbus East. Rylie Wilkison, Ailyn Hendricks and Emma Williams were singles winners, Haylie Rayl and Chelsie Rayl took a point at No. 1 doubles and the second duo of Emma Sappenfield and Haley Haldeman also won.

<strong>Warriors nipped by Royals</strong>

Whiteland lost a 3-2 match with Roncalli despite a three-set win from Sarah Scott at first singles and a victory from Natalie Cloer and Molly Brosnan at No. 1 doubles. For the Royals, Rebecca Zakrowski and Lili Wisler picked up singles points and the No. 2 doubles team of Elsie Kerr and Katrina Gangstad won in three sets.

Track and field

<strong>Grizzly Cubs cruise to sweep</strong>

Franklin took both ends of a dual meet in Greensburg, with the girls winning 91-40 and the boys by an 85-47 score.

Josh Barnett led the boys with victories in the 800 and 1,600, while Gavin Wilson (110 hurdles), J.D. Sever (300 hurdles), Ethan Pheifer (3,200), Carmelo Cameron (high jump), Collin Webb (long jump) and the 4×100 and 4×400 relays all finished first.

The Grizzly Cub girls swept all three relays and got individual wins from Lauren Sandrock (100 hurdles), Macy Doublin (100), Addie Morris (400), Sydney Clements (800), Hailey Stewart (long jump) and Kendall Mirise (pole vault).

<strong>Woodmen boys win three-way</strong>

Greenwood competed against Decatur Central and Mooresville, with the Woodmen boys tying the Pioneers for first and the girls placing second.

For the boys, Stuart Luhigo won the 800 and ran on the victorious 4×800 relay, while Conner Watson (3,200), Gabe Long (discus) and Dylan Mayhew (shot put) also finished first. On the girls side, the Woodmen got wins from Ellie Irwin (high jump), Amy Luttrell (pole vault), Siena Halfaker (100 hurdles), Ava Leininger (1,600), Quinn Kelly (400) and the 4×800 relay.

Franklin College

<strong>Baseball earns walk-off win</strong>

An 11th-inning hit from Logan Demkovich capped off Franklin College’s wild 15-14 victory over Transylvania. Tysen Lipscomb homered and had four RBIs for the Grizzlies (16-9), while Nick Wright also went deep and drove in three to become the school’s career RBI leader with 162.

<strong>Softball sweeps Anderson</strong>

Franklin College posted 8-0 and 4-3 wins over Anderson in their final home games of the regular season. Samantha Cain had three RBIs on the day for the Grizzlies (17-9, 6-4 HCAC), while Sydney Rodeghier, Annie Kluemper and Sydney Bostic each knocked in two.
