Royals knock off No. 1 Dragons

Keagan Rothrock struck out 14 while allowing just one hit as Class 4A No. 2 Roncalli avenged a regular-season loss with a 4-0 sectional semifinal triumph over top-ranked New Palestine on Tuesday. Chloe Parks drove in a pair of runs for the Royals (26-2), who got two hits each from Courtney Keller and Lyla Blackwell.

Braves eliminated by No. 3 Mustangs

Indian Creek’s season came to an end with a 26-1 loss at Class 3A No. 3 Edgewood in the first round of sectional play late Monday night. The Mustangs put the game away by scoring 18 runs in the fourth inning.

Delaney Heminger doubled and scored the lone run for the Braves (4-17), while Emily Todor had two of the team’s five hits.

Baseball

Warriors defeat Panthers

Ethan Shipp homered and Drew Helton drove in three runs as Whiteland finished off its regular season with an 8-3 triumph over Bloomington South on Tuesday. Shipp, Jonathan Crowley and Jon Wray each scored twice for the Warriors (9-13), who face Greenwood in a sectional semifinal next Monday.

Boys golf

Warriors defeat Eagles

Will Davis’ 36 led all players and propelled Whiteland to a 189-221 win over Brown County at Salt Creek on Tuesday. Garrett Butler added a 45 for the Warriors.

Lancers fall to Twisters

Max Blandford shared medalist honors with a 40, but Edinburgh came up on the short end of a 184-205 score against Oldenburg Academy at Hillcrest.

Braves pick up win

Kaleb Hicks earned medalist honors with a 50 as Indian Creek defeated Lighthouse Christian. The Braves improve to 8-5 overall with the victory.
