Roncalli counselor to appear on ‘Ellen’

<p>A local school counselor whose job is in jeopardy because she is married to another woman will appear on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" today. </p>
<p>Shelley Fitzgerald, a Roncalli guidance counselor, was suspended from the southside Catholic school after new leadership in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis was tipped off about her marriage, her lawyer said.</p>
<p>Fitzgerald, who has been a counselor at the school for 15 years, was married in 2014. </p>
<p>Neither the school nor the Archdiocese have commented publicly about the issue. </p>
<p>News of her suspension drew national media attention.</p>
<p>Fitzgerald’s interview with DeGeneres will air at 3 p.m. today on NBC. </p>
